Purchased in 2008, the home had 13 broken windows, many of which were boarded up with plywood. The 100 year old standing seam metal roof leaked through to the first floor. The four 2-story iconic columns lost their foundation to rot and decay along with the 4 porch columns. While the interior of the home was filling with ceiling plaster, insects and time destroyed much of the original wallpaper. Generations of pigeons lived in the attic, breezeway and throughout the house leaving behind generations of 'evidence'.
After days of general cleaning and inspection, we began to see the craftsmanship and high quality materials that went into this 1910 Greek Revival home. The staircase, woodwork and doors with transom windows are in original form and shellac. The 10 mantels are intact, most of the floors were sound, and all hardware was in place.
